Enabling remote measurement tasks in confined and constrained spaces is a technological problem which cannot be solved using classical robotic systems. The solution to this challenging problem can be found in biology, in particular by taking inspiration from the growing process of plants and vines.

SIAM0-SOFT is a pneumatically everting soft growing robot which is able to access in remote sites through small-scale cross sections and to grow while steering, endowed with model-based strategies for control, planning and navigation.
